Taking part - Please note the start location for all routes
All three cycle runs will start from 10am on 28th May 2023 at the Whinhill Road car park at the Deveron Sports Centre. Children must be accompanied by an adult on all routes. It is requested that participants do not assemble too far ahead of the start time at the start/finish area at Whinhill Road. All cyclists must register prior to participating in the Banffshire Cycle Challenge and must comply with the safety guidance below. Registration can be completed in advance for each individual either online on the registration page or by downloading the registration form and posting it to Banff Rotary Club, c/o Macduff Dental, 52 Duff Street, Macduff AB44 1LQ or email to: [email protected] . Please note online registration closes at 6pm on 27th May. You can also register in person on the day of the Cycle Challenge. Registration facilities will be open from 9am on the day of the Cycle Challenge. Group entries (see below) should be made on the Group registration form which can be downloaded here.

Sponsorship
All those taking part are encouraged to raise as much sponsorship money as possible. Sponsorship forms for individuals and families can be downloaded here. It is recommended that sponsorship funds are handed in to the registration facilities on the day of the Cycle Challenge, if possible. Otherwise, sponsorship monies should be submitted as soon as possible after the Cycle Challenge to the address shown on the downloadable entrance form. For those not raising sponsorship a voluntary donation of £10 per head is suggested for participation in the event. Children under 16 do not need to make a donation. Those individuals or families who raise more than £25 of sponsorship, and hand the money in on the day, will not be expected to make a £10 voluntary donation.

Group Fundraising Opportunity
Recognised groups and organisations are welcome to take part in the Cycle Challenge as a way of raising money for their own funds. Free entry will be offered for the group members if more than £100 in sponsorship is raised. At least 75% of this sponsorship will be returned to the group or organisation, so why not take advantage of this fundraising opportunity without the worry of organising it! Health & Safety Guidance
To ensure participating in the Banffshire Cycle Challenge is a fun, rewarding and above all safe experience, it is essential
that riders observe the following safety guidance and any cyclist not doing so will not be permitted to enter the challenge;
Always wear an approved cycling safety helmet which complies with the appropriate British Standard.
Wear brightly coloured comfortable appropriate clothing.
Be prepared for all weather conditions.
Ensure your bike is in good working order and the brakes have been properly serviced.
Comply with the rules of the road and the Highway Code.
Be courteous and considerate to other road users and allow sufficient space for vehicles to overtake.
Please ensure you wear your entrant number provided when you register
If you have a mobile phone please take it with you. Emergency contact numbers will be provided on your entrant number.
Please do not deviate from the signposted route
First aid and supplies of water will be located at Cornhill.
When you finish please report to Registration so we are aware of your safe return
Finally please remember this is not a race, enjoy the picturesque route and pace yourself.
There is no time limit to complete either route but it should be noted that the marshalling, support services, medical cover and start/finish area facilities will not remain in place beyond 1.30 PM on the day of the Cycle Challenge.
